Brent Sherman Food City 250 Preview
Spartanburg, S.C. (August 22, 2007) –
After leaving Michigan with a
disappointing 40th place finish due to motor problems, Sherman and
the McGill Motorsports team head to Bristol with a heavy heart and redemption
on their minds.
The team, and
the NASCAR family, lost a dear friend in Roy Eugene "Gunsmoke" Raines Monday,
August 20th. He was the team’s co-hauler driver and is survived
by his wife Beverly and a loving family.
"It
is a short drive to Bristol, but it will seem like the longest one without 'Gunsmoke'."
Said Jay Maybry, the team's full time hauler driver. "He was like another
father to me and I am going to miss him and our conversations while driving.
We all know that he would want us to keep working and to give 100 percent,
just like he did for the team."
Brent Sherman
echoed Maybry's thoughts. "As hard as it will be, we know that he would want
us to keep working and do everything we can to be competitive." Sherman
continued, "We had a good car for the spring race at Bristol but got taken
out on the 6th lap. Hopefully, we can shake this string of bad
luck and bring home a complete car with a good finish."
